new lens

i received a new lens in the mail today—exciting stuff. i played with it some this afternoon and this evening. i'm pretty happy with the results. it's a fixed focal length, which is an interesting challenge compostionally. it causes one to get up a move around a lot more while taking pictures, also, obviously, no zoom to save you if you're not getting what you want.
the focal length is 35mm, which on my camera translates to about 50mm or so, which emulates more-or-less what one sees with their naked eye. therefore the pictures seem to have a naturalistic kind of feel to them. what's striking to me about these pictueres as opposed to pictures taken with my other lens is the depth of colour. everything appears very real and unflattened. beautiful.
